I’m watching people do the AT 52 Pickup Challenge, and there’s all these Finn the Human/Jake the Dog fills.
And I’m just like
I’m stuck perpetually on those. All day, every day, never-ending.
Ah, it’s no trouble at all! …And hm, it’s less that I’m not in to shipping, and more that I’m just not that in to NSFW. That’s the main thing, really. I also just tend to care more about character interaction in a character study/development sense, which of course is by no means mutually exclusive to shipping. So don’t worry about avoiding shipping if that’s where you want to go with it - in the end, I really don’t mind! Hell, I’m all for it if the characters are being IC about things.
Other than that, I don’t really have anything specific in mind? I’m fine with you going with your gut and writing what you’d like to, and I’m sure it’ll turn out great. : ) But thank you so much for asking~
Still trying to decipher Finn’s underwater dream from BBL
We already concluded that Finn’s hat is his safe zone and every time he takes it off, he shows his true, honest human self (and exposes his vulnerability?)
So why would he run away from it in the ocean?

Brainstorming a bit, so this is kinda free-form, but I think we have to keep in mind what the ocean represents as a whole, as well. After all, Finn isn’t afraid of water, just the ocean.
Don’t get me wrong, I really liked the Lemonhope episodes. Character arcs and symbolism are my jam (even if I’m still not sure how much I agree with Objectivism as a thing).
But Billy’s Bucket List reminded me of how I felt after I first marathoned the entire show, ending up with watching I Remember You a day after it aired and The Lich later on when it premiered. A feeling that I thought was gone entirely with Red Throne (not because of shipping, but rather because of its multiple other problems). A sort of…deeply-felt sense of potential, if that makes any sense. Billy’s Bucket List wasn’t the best episode in the show’s run (though of course it was pretty good), but it captured that for me again.
Season five, as a giant whole, has had some of the highest highs and the lowest lows of the show, in my opinion. And there’s been times where I’ve been hyped and times where I haven’t, times where I still loved the show and times where I felt so disconnected from it that the IKF AU was my only link. But I hadn’t really been looking forward to what happens next for a while.
Maybe it’s just a season finale thing. The episode did end with a reveal and a huge tease, after all. But I think it’s just a bit different from that sort of anticipation.
Thursday nights and early Friday mornings = Character Design Hell.
Hm, maybe I’ll put up HQ versions of the IKF AU covers somewhere once all three of them are done, and link to them in their respective posts.
(Tumblr REALLY hates the contrast between IKF’s cloak color and the lines, for some reason, and even uploading to a separate website and then to tumblr from there doesn’t work. Urgh.)
