I did find this forum discussion, so take it with a grain os salt:
I remember Itoi describing Mother 3 as kind of a macho game, because “the bad guys fight, and the good guys do too.” The game seems to portray masculinity as going out and fighting, and femininity as not fighting…
What do yall think?
